Wisconsin Congressman Ron Kind Visits Realityworks, Inc.

ImageEAU CLAIRE, Wis., June 17, 2014 – Realityworks, Inc. hosted Wisconsin Congressman Ron Kind (D-La Crosse) at their Eau Claire, Wis. facility on Monday, June 16. During the visit, Kind received first-hand experience with Realityworks’ experiential learning products, including their new RealCareer Welding Solution - guideWELD real welding guidance system. He also discussed the importance of Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs), which Realityworks has had in place since 2012.

A strong advocate for ESOPs, Kind noted the importance of employee-owned companies in Wisconsin, and detailed his efforts to help businesses navigate the tax barriers that can arise from the establishment of ESOPs. Those efforts come in the form of the Promotion and Expansion of Private Employee Ownership Act of 2014, legislation Kind hopes to garner bipartisan support for and gain companion legislation from the senate.

“[Promotion and Expansion of Private Employee Ownership Act of 2014] makes for easier transition and more technical assistance for businesses contemplating the ESOP model and how they go about doing it,” said Kind. He hopes to make the transition to an employee-owned model a more seamless and less daunting task.

Kind also discussed the need to protect companies that are currently employee-owned. He stated, “With lots of changes coming up on the horizon with comprehensive tax reform we do not want to do anything to jeopardize the employee owned model that exists out there.”

“It was exciting for us to have Congressman Kind visit, as he is a supporter of ESOP companies like ours,” said Timm Boettcher, President of Realityworks. “We received the opportunity to share what our unique and innovative company has accomplished to encourage the betterment of the human condition and the future workforce in a variety of careers.”
